St. John’s Meadows Celebrates its Centenarians
St. John’s Meadows honored the residents who have reached, or will reach, the age of 100 years and older in 2025. Centenarians, family members, and St. John’s employees celebrated the honorees for their milestones with a luncheon. This is an annual tradition at St. John’s Meadows that brings together residents from both independent and enhanced assisted living communities.

There are 10 current centenarians at St. John’s Meadows. Residents Molla Carr, 100 years of age; Alice Morse, 102; Peter Affolter, 101; James Mead, 100, and Jackie Stricker, 102, were in attendance. Other centenarians who were unable to attend include Ruth Weiss, 101; Mason Fitch, 100; Bea Briggs, 101; Renee Cowen, 100; and Mei Hwag, 101.
Honorees who attended enjoyed a 4-course meal ending with birthday cake. They shared pieces of advice, favorite hobbies, and their proudest accomplishments.

Peter Affolter shared one of his greatest accomplishments that happened about 10 years ago. “I was 89 and I got to ski downhill in the Swiss Alps.”
“Keep moving,” said Alice Morse when asked about her advice for living a century.
Jackie Stricker said that she believes people should not take life too seriously and “take it one day at a time.”
Those who were unable to attend the lunch had meals delivered to their rooms along with a bouquet. St. John’s Meadows Social Recreation Manager Kim Bidleman said, ‘This is my third year here at St. John’s and third centenarian luncheon.”
“I am so happy to be here,” Bidleman continued, “because there are so many wise people in this room to learn from.”
