St. John’s Resident Shares Summer Fitness Tips with 13 WHAM

13 WHAM once again welcomed St. John’s Resident Anita Spoor back into the studio for a segment on summer fitness for ARC Rochester.

“It’s been a rough couple days for anyone looking to stay active with all of this hot weather,” said ARC Host Abby Fridmann. “We wanted to get a little advice on how to keep moving while staying safe.”

“We invited back one of our favorite guests of all time to help us out,” said cohost Dan Schrack when welcoming Anita Spoor.

Spoor is a resident of Brickstone by St. John’s for over two years and has been a guest in the WHAM studio twice before this morning’s appearance. This time around she shared how she stays happy and healthy during the summer months.

“I start my day with a walk for couple of miles,” said Spoor. She mentioned that she takes full advantage of the St. John’s gym especially during the warmer days. “We have this place called the Boathouse, it has all of the exercise equipment, and I love starting my day there.”

Spoor explained to Schrack, Fridmann, and viewers that “your health is your responsibility, no one else’s. And it is your concern.”

“Every day you have to do something and the more you stay active, the better you’ll feel and the more energy you will have” she said.

Similar to the Music and Movement class Spoor leads, she said that she looks forward to her daily exercise because it is “an emotional release.”

Spoor spoke about her class that is held every Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Wintergarden of Brickstone by St. John’s. She said it is a great way to start the week and that fellow residents “love it because it is something different.”

Spoor welcomed those who are interested in her class to stop by and prioritize their health — even inviting Schrack and Fridmann to join a class.
