Honoring Veterans at St. John’s
As St. John’s Home Assistant Director of Nursing and Lieutenant Commander U.S. Navy Retired Robert Wesley said, “On the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month we honor the bravery of those who served our country.”
Residents, family members, and staff gathered at St. John’s Home and St. John’s Meadows to honor the selflessness of the men and women who have made America the land of the free.
At St John’s Home, 36 veterans attended a special ceremony hosted by the St. John’s Therapeutic Recreation Department. The ceremony included reading the veterans’ names, a wreath-laying by resident Robert Lane (Army), music by Lil’ Boy Fred and Dragonfly Girl, acknowledgment of prisoners of war, and a prayer from St. John’s Home Chaplain Ben Loos.
Over at St. John’s Meadows, over 50 veterans from the Meadows, Hawthorne, and Brickstone by St. John’s gathered for a luncheon — complete with a prayer from St. John’s Meadows Chaplain Patrick Crumity (Navy) and the singing of “God Bless America,” by St. John’s Dining Services Member DrewAsia Douglass.
