St. John’s Kicks Off Wedding Season with Bridal Fashion Show

Doris Adamek is no stranger to leading fun and creative events at St. John’s. Recently the St. John’s Meadows resident led the first ever St. John’s bridal fashion show. Inspired by her daughter Suzy Kenyon, owner of Under the Arbor Bridal Shop in Fairport, Doris organized the fashion show to bring communities together and have a celebration that kickstarts the wedding season. The event featured gowns, both new and old, modeled by the residents and staff of St. John’s Meadows, as well as their family members. Brickstone by St. John’s residents and staff also participated in the celebration.

“Weddings bring families together in a very positive way. We all have memories of our own weddings or of family members. I know I treasure the photos I have of my parent’s wedding, my husband’s parents,” Doris told 13 WHAM.

With the help of St. John’s Meadows Community Life Specialist Amanda Yergeau and other St. John’s staff, Doris was able to display many vintage wedding dresses and photos from various residents and employees.  The event was rounded out with a wedding singer, resident-made bouquets, and wedding cake.
