Guests Delight in Elizabeth Taylor and a Rochester Treasure

Elizabeth Taylor's jewels, shoes, decorating style, and life moments were the focus of a special event held for St. John's guests on Monday, December 5 at the George Eastman Museum. To offer prospective residents to St. John's communities the opportunity to sample the kinds of programming offered as part of our full list of amenities, a special visit to see Rochester's world-renowned museum and its latest exhibit, Catherine Opie's 700 Nimes Road, featuring photos from inside Elizabeth Taylor's home, was hosted by St. John's.

Entitled Tea Party at the George Eastman Museum, this event featured curator hosted tours of the Opie exhibit, full access to the museum, which was fully adorned for the holidays, a viewing of the seasonal Gingerbread House exhibit, and afternoon tea savory and sweet treats. There was no cost to participants and guests had the additional opportunity to talk with St. John's residents about life in a St. John's community.

Vice President of Skilled Services Rebecca Priest welcomed guests and CEO Charlie Runyon and Vice President of Housing Paul Bartlett were on hand to offer opportunities for guests to ask questions and learn more about St. John's. Some of our St. John's Home residents, although not in attendance, were there in spirit, as their gingerbread creation was on display in the museum.

Monday's event was part of St. John's Embrace Living Series, which features free and open-to-the-community events throughout the year that give those considering a move to St. John's the opportunity to experience how we embrace living every day!
