Honoring Those Who Served this Veterans Day with Channel 8 WROC
A new tradition is blossoming at St. John’s Home as Infection Preventionist Bob Wesley dressed in his blues for the second year in a row to thank the veterans of St. John’s Home for their service. For Bob, Veterans Day is especially close to home having served 22 years in the Navy as a nurse. The 50 or so veterans that reside at St. John’s Home appreciate him taking the time to speak with each of them on a day that was created to honor the sacrifices made to keep our country safe. “Today, for me, it’s all about honoring our veterans that are residents here in long-term care, I love to give back to them, make sure they know they’re not forgotten and thank them for their service,” says Wesley.
Along for the experience this year was reporter Adam Chodak from channel 8 WROC who also had the chance to speak with resident and Army veteran Robert Lane about his experience celebrating amid a pandemic.
