Brickstone by St. John’s boasts a friendly, walkable layout.

The Democrat and Chronicle published an article on Thursday, June 4, regarding the various options seniors have when it comes to housing. Staff Writer Mary Chao touched on the importance of understanding an individual’s needs when choosing the right senior living community for them. Below is an exerpt of that article.

St. John’s in Brighton recently expanded its facility, adding Brickstone by St. John’s in Brighton with 102 new units in townhouse, apartment and bungalow styles. It offers independent living for seniors, said Paul Bartlett, vice president of administration at St. John’s. Independent living means exactly that, with seniors renting units and being responsible for their own meals and such.

But residents may purchase those services a la carte, such as housekeeping or meal plans, Bartlett said. The cost is $2,000 to $3,500 a month for the rental units, he said. St. John’s does have a section of assisted living units, but is primarily an independent living facility. Assisted living is for people with disabilities who need help with daily routines.
