Notes from Nate: Joys of Summer

All season long the courtyard at St. John’s Home has been filled with the joys of summer. From the smell of the burgers and barbeque on the grill, to the bright colors of the lilies, black-eyed Susans, and hydrangeas, to the soaring notes of musicians playing a wide variety of music, this summer has been a feast of the senses. Our hope, as always, is to help residents and families make new memories together while also conjuring up good memories from summers past.

This summer we have also been fortunate to welcome more visitors to our campus. St. John’s offers a continuum of services, with many people taking advantage of our independent senior housing at Brickstone by St. John’s, St. John’s Meadows, and enhanced assisted living services at Hawthorne.

For the first time since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic we have been able to welcome folks from our other locations to visit the nursing home and rehabilitation services, with tours of the facility and exploration of the many amenities offered at St. John’s Home. With so many residents coming to long-term care from within our system, it is always wonderful for people to be able to connect with former neighbors and friends to maintain their social connections.

After dealing with so many restrictions for so long, it is encouraging and exciting to explore new possibilities. We look to the future with hopes for expanded volunteer and engagement opportunities across our continuum.
