St. John’s Home Ranked Among Newsweek’s Best Nursing Homes
St. John’s Home has been recognized by Newsweek’s America’s Best Nursing Homes 2022 in its third annual ranking. Nationwide only four percent of nursing homes received this distinction and locally, St. John’s is one of only three Rochester area nursing homes on the list.
According to Statista, Inc., the Best Nursing Homes 2022 Ranking lists the best nursing homes in the 25 states with the highest population size using the United States Census Bureau. Newsweek and Statista designed a rigorous methodology that provided a score for every evaluated nursing home, which was based on three key indicators:
- Performance Data: The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) provides performance data in the categories of health inspections, quality measures, and staffing.
- Reputation Survey: In cooperation with Newsweek, Statista invited 10,000 medical experts — including registered nurses, nursing home managers and administrators, nursing assistants, therapists, and physicians — to complete an online survey that assessed nursing homes.
- COVID-19 Response: Each nursing home’s response to the pandemic was evaluated using the following criteria: Resident Impact, Facility Capacity, Staff and Personnel, Supplies and Personal Protective Equipment, and Vaccination Rates of Residents.
“If you need to choose a place for a loved one, we hope this list of Best Nursing Homes will help make that decision easier and the burden, lighter.,” said Nancy Cooper, Newsweek’s Global Editor-In-Chief.
“We understand the level of trust that is extended when a loved one is placed in a nursing home,” said Charlie Runyon, President and CEO of St. John’s. “Delivering the highest level of quality care is our top priority. We are humbled by this recognition and consider it an honor to serve the residents who choose to call St. John’s Home and their families.”
