13 WHAM Story Highlights the Return of Volunteers to St. John’s Home

Excitement is in the air at St. John’s Home as we welcome back volunteers just in time for National Volunteer Month! After about a year without outside help, it is a relief to see both familiar and new friendly faces walk our halls once more. One long time gift shop volunteer, Kathy Majewski, spoke to 13 WHAM yesterday on her thoughts about being back.

“I get to talk to the residents, I get to talk to the workers that are here and people that come in as visitors. I just like that social interaction – and it’s fun to be in the gift shop,” said Kathy, who jumped at the opportunity to return to St. John’s.

Of course, we are always looking for additional support as Volunteer Coordinator Sandy Ferguson states, “I would just encourage people who want to make a new friend, who have that compassionate heart, that really would like to give back, to reach out to us.”
