St. John’s Home Auxiliary Gearing Up for Spring

St. John’s Home Auxiliary members prepare balloons to deliver to the elders.

From the Desk of Lori Lorraine

Spring is in the air! I look forward to seeing you at the Volunteer Recognition luncheon on April 10 at Mario’s. Please make sure your RSVP is in by April 2, or bring it to the Auxiliary meeting.

I am looking for some help April 15 and 29 for bowling at Clover Lanes, both in the afternoon. We also have a vocalist performance on April 21 at 2:30. Let me know if you can help with these.

Looking into next month the Lilac Festival will be happening right outside our doors and we need lots of help that week. In June, the Thursday afternoon concert series starts.

Wow! Look how quickly we move from snow to summer concerts!

Spring Gift From the Heart

Just in time for the official arrival of Spring about a dozen Auxiliary members gathered to prepare helium balloons for our first Gift From the Heart distribution of the year. Some shocking times occurred as we became overly aggressive on the helium tanks and blew out several balloons. Auxiliary members distributed brightly colored helium balloons throughout the Home. On each ribbon there was a label with our logo and the text “Happy Spring! A Gift From the Heart.” Elders loved getting the balloons and our volunteers were happy to have such an enjoyable opportunity to interact with elders. Gifts From the Heart for the elders at St. John’s Home are funded through the SJH Auxiliary’s Illumination of Love program.

Thanks to everyone who helped with this project. The St. John’s Home Auxiliary supports St. John’s mission to nurture life with vibrant, life-affirming relationships every day!

March Program Recap

Everyone’s Irish! And everyone loves music!

Rebecca Priest, SJH Skilled Services Administrator, put on her musician’s hat and treated us to Irish favorites on her violin. We sang along to Oh Danny Boy, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, and Amazing Grace. Rebecca also played Ashokan Farewell, a piece that she learned at a pub in Ardmore, Ireland while on her honeymoon. We tapped our toes to Lord of the Dance, the familiar Shaker tune, made even more famous by River Dance. And she closed with a lovely tune, Benediction Song, written by her father, which he played at the end of her wedding.

“May The Lord bless you and keep you, may his love shine on you always… By his power, comfort and sustain you… May God hold you in the palm of his hand.”

Thank you, Rebecca. It was a wonderful concert!

Welcome to Our New Members!
