‘White Walls’ Author Shares Story at St. John’s

Bestselling author and comedian Judy Batalion visited Brickstone by St. John’s on Monday to discuss the complexities of mother-daughter relationships and her 2016 book  “White Walls: A Memoir About Motherhood, Daughterhood, and the Mess in Between.” Batalion’s appearance was part of the Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester’s Lane Dworkin Jewish Book Festival.

Prior to the event, Judy appeared on “Good Day Rochester” with 13WHAM’s Jennifer Johnson and Norma Holland along with Lori Harter from the JCC.

A crowd of over 50 attendees heard Batalion detail the story of the difficult relationship with her mother and her own coming to terms with being the daughter of a “hoarder.” Batalion also discussed the process of writing her first book and sharing an early draft with her mother.  The program was also the first event of St. John’s annual Embrace Living series.
