Make Someone's Day as a Volunteer

volunteer

From our earliest days, dedicated volunteers have played a vital role in creating the nurturing environment found at St. John's in Rochester, NY. The St. John’s volunteer program embraces residents, families, staff, and the community. The program invites volunteers to be part of a unique experience by encouraging creativity and offering a variety of leadership opportunities.

Each volunteer comes to us with different interests, talents, and abilities. Depending on your preferences, we can offer you a variety of choices for a challenging, enjoyable, and rewarding volunteer experience. We offer career exploration, opportunities to learn new skills, and social involvement.

How You Can Help

At St. John’s Home and our Penfield Green House Homes, volunteers maintain the library, gift and ice cream shops, transport residents to appointments, and most importantly, provide welcomed companionship.

At St. John’s Meadows and Brickstone by St. John’s, volunteers assist with events, maintain the libraries and gift shop, and help with various activities such as games and clubs. Our resident volunteers enjoy a rewarding lifestyle by engaging their minds, bodies, and souls.

We invite individuals and groups from corporate volunteer programs to exercise their talents and skills by participating in some of our special programs. We also encourage local secondary schools and universities to get involved in special events and programs. To volunteer independently, you must be at least 14 years of age.

Rewards

The rewards of volunteering with us are as unique as your reasons for wanting to volunteer. As a way to thank our St. John’s Home volunteers for their generosity, we offer free meals in our cafeteria, free ice cream at the ice cream shop, and flu shots for volunteers age 21 and over.

Volunteers at St. John’s Meadows and Brickstone by St. John’s are invited to use the amenities of St. John’s Meadows including our libraries, fitness room, cafe, gift shop, and swimming pool.

All St. John’s volunteers are invited to enjoy the annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon.
