Years of Employment: Since 1976

Experience at St. John’s: I have enjoyed being a part of St. John’s since 1976.  It is a family and people have been supportive, compassionate, and flexible with me through one of the most difficult times of my life.  Staff truly cares about each other. When it was time to place my dad in a nursing home, I wanted him at St. John’s. The staff still asks how my mom is doing, which shows how much they care.

Past work experience: St. John's has been my main employer.

Education and training pertaining to your position: I was trained as a medical terminologist and moved into this role over 11 years ago.

Awards and celebrations of excellence: Employee of the Month

Personal life (family and hobbies): I have been married to my husband, Bill, for over 35 years.  We have 3 children: Brittany, Jenelle and Joshua. I enjoy spending time with my three grandchildren: Graham, Raegan and Adrianna, watching all kinds of sports, and playing tennis.

What are you most proud of here at St. John’s? The direction that St. John’s is taking to change society’s view of elderhood. I love how innovative we are to improve our elders’ quality of lives. I’m especially proud of our Penfield Green House homes

Sum up your personality in one word. Fun and humorous. The rule in my house is not to lose your sense of humor.

What is your favorite part about working here? Working with the staff that I support is fun and challenging. After having worked here for so long you develop great friendships with people who truly become like family to you.

What do you look forward to most when coming to work? I think I’ve seen it all and then something new happens.

How do you embrace living“Life is change.  Growth is optional. Choose wisely.” Karen Kaiser Clark

Life can be a persistent teacher. Over the last few years, my life was shaken up by dramatic circumstances. I embrace living by being thankful for blessings all around me day to day and not taking anything for granted.
