Residents Record Their Personal Stories

The newest class of LifeBio graduates marked a meaningful milestone as participating residents looked back on their lives, memories, and personal stories at an open house event at St. John’s Meadows.

The program, guided by LifeBio, encourages older adults to record their experiences, values, and lessons in a lasting format for loved ones. As part of a tradition that has continued at St. John’s Meadows for 17 years, this year’s celebration brought together residents in the LifeBio program, along with staff and fellow residents, to honor the time, dedication, and storytelling that shaped each completed biography.

For participants, the process uncovered a deeper appreciation for their own journeys. “I would like to keep adding to my biography because while working on it, I realized I have had a very rich life and truly saw how loved I am,” said Amy Doty.  She also expressed her desire to preserve these memories to share with her grandchildren.

Sue Covel, another participant, described the experience as especially meaningful.  “I really enjoyed the process, and it brought back memories I had completely forgotten about,” said Covel. She added that she plans to share her completed biography with her grandchildren, calling the effort worthwhile, especially after writing over 70 pages.

The impact of the LifeBio program goes beyond the graduates themselves. Residents who were not enrolled in the class also joined in the spirit of reflection, sharing memories and stories alongside participants. The event became a space for connection, where conversations sparked laughter, nostalgia, and a fresh appreciation for the lives experienced. As the 2026 class looks ahead, their stories stand not only as personal legacies but as a token of the value of preserving and sharing life’s moments from generation to generation.
