Vice President of Senior Housing Weighs in on New Industry Trends and Challenges

“In the 14 years that I’ve been here, I would say there’s a larger group of the (resident) population that wants to be in the know.”

The Rochester Business Journal recently asked area senior housing leaders about the trends, challenges, and aspects of the business they are excited about in 2025. St. John’s Vice President of Senior Housing Tony Zaccaglino offered several points of emphasis in the article.

Zaccaglino noted the continued popularity of the pricing structure offered by St. John’s Meadows and Brickstone by St. John’s communities. “Instead of having the high rent, all-inclusive package where you pay whether you use the services or meals or not, we’ve switched primarily to a la carte style,” he told the RBJ’s Caurie Putnam. “We still do offer what we call a bundled package for those who do want the simplicity of just the standard bill, but the majority of our (independent living) residents choose and do appreciate the a la carte style.”

“Coffee with Tony,” a popular weekly gathering for residents at both St. John’s independent living communities, is also highlighted in the article, as well as how St. John’s continues to harness emerging technologies.
