Brickstone Volunteers Featured on WROC Honor Roll

Brickstone by St. John’s has a dedicated group of volunteers that partner with James P.B. Duffy School #12 in the City of Rochester’s South Wedge neighborhood to help teach kindergarteners and first-graders how to read. The senior citizen volunteers visit every week for 10 weeks during each semester, and hope to ignite a life-long love of reading by relaying just how important the skill is. The intergenerational nature of the program has been one of its greatest draws for the students, and it provides a way for seniors to get and stay engaged with the community.

Recently, these worthy volunteers were featured on WROC Channel 8’s Honor Roll. To view a clip of the broadcast, click here.
